Just between you and me and the lampost....




This is the first installment of what I hope will
be a regular update concerning my thoughts on the
events of the day,  For the first one though I thought
I might explain just what the GOP Restaurant is
and what I hope to make it in the coming months.

The basic idea for the GOP Restaurant came out in
a discussion on a political debate message board way
back in 1994 in the lead-up to the congressional
elections and the Republican "Contract with America"
platform.  One of my liberal friends on that board
accused the GOP of attempting to start some sort of
a restaurant with the items (he termed them menu items)
 in that contract.   I thought, "what a great idea!" and
formed the initial GOP Restaurant.  Well, times
have changed, and along with them the political landscape
but the idea of having a restaurant to discuss politics
and some other interesting things remains a good one. 
So, here we are. 

Just like a real-life restaurant, we've started with
something of a limited menu, but we'll be adding new
items here on a weekly basis.  One good thing about
politics is that there is plenty of food for thought and
it's a target rich enviorment for a little bit of fun as
a side dish as well.
